The Sean Effect
I work out East two days out of the week. Like waaaay out East. On Tuesdays I go out to the Hamptons, on Thursdays I work on the North Fork, out to Cutchogue. When I’m out there, I get spotty satellite radio reception and even worse terrestrial radio reception. That’s where WEHM comes in. WEHM broadcasts out of East Hampton, and provides my workday with a fine selection of music, some G.Love, Phish, Portugal The Man, etc. So on Tuesday, during The Morning Show with Anthony, he announced a Twitter contest to win a pair of tickets to see Kathleen Edwards at The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, I figured I’d give it a whirl. I happen to enjoy Kathleen Edwards, and enjoy WBPAC even more. The contest was simply to tweet the DJ, Anthony, with why you should win the tickets.
I won! I’ve never won a radio contest before. Come to think of it, aside from winning a box of chocolate in a post race raffle, I don’t think I’ve won any contest, ever.
So I’m pretty stoked. The only problem is, none of my friends like Kathleen Edwards. Soooo if any of ya’ll happen to like her, and live on or can get out to Long Island on May 4th and want to check it out, let me know!

Bradley Nowell would have been 44 today.
Play it loud everyday.

With Memorial Day Weekend only 114 days away, I thought I might continue sharing some of my favorite songs of summer. These are songs you can dance to, chill at the beach to, skate to, enjoy summer to.

Track 1. “Naked Kids” - Grouplove

We are lying in the sun, when we’re done finding a towel now we’re thinking of where we’re gonna eat. Back corner table order lobster and Black Label, raise your glasses, here’s to living out our dreams.

LOVING the video for Skate Away by Seth Pettersen and The Undertow. A real homage to the soul skating of the 70’s. The accompanying interview with Seth is pretty cool too.

If you can dance to it, you can skate to it.

That is a flyer (remember those?!) from one of the very first shows I ever went to. I can’t effing believe it. Someone on facebook started a LIHC nostalgia group, and I’m obsessed with it.
Can we just look at the lineup for the LI Zoo on this particular weekend?

Seriously getting emotional over here.

Long Run Tunes

Having trouble getting through your long runs? Try some of these songs. Each one gets me going. Some of them are quick jolts of energy, some are 12 minute ballads that you can get lost in. They all work for me around mile 11 and beyond, perhaps they’ll help you too.
